Air water generation systems almost seem like magic, pulling clean drinking water right out of the air. But it’s typically incredibly energy intensive, and suffers from dryer air. But a team of researchers at MIT have developed a new hydrogel that absorbs water out of the air like a sponge during the day, and releases it at night. The most amazing part, is that it requires no energy of any kind, and it can be reset each and every morning, without any intervention. Obviously this would be a game-changer in the fight for clean drinking water, but does this tech really live up to the hype?
